香港での大規模火災に関して、「『竹の足場』が燃えやすいから延焼したのでは」という声をいくつか目にしました。
正式な原因は今後の調査結果を待つ必要がありますが、この写真を見ると、次の点がわかりやすいと思います。
→足場の竹そのものはほとんど焼け残っている
→燃えているのは外側の緑色のシート（養生ネット）
→竹は本来、特別に燃えやすい素材ではありません
（竹めし、焼き鳥で使う竹串など、火に接する用途が多いことからも分かります）
香港の竹の足場は、湿度が高く風の強い気候に適応した、長い歴史を持つ伝統的な工法です。写真からも分かるように、竹の骨組み自体はしっかり残っています。
Following the Tai Po blaze in Hong Kong, some comments online have suggested that “the fire spread because bamboo scaffolding is highly flammable”.
While the official cause of the fire will need to be confirmed by further investigation, the photo helps clarify a few key points:
→The structure shown in the image is the bamboo scaffolding after the fire. As you can see, much of it remains intact and was not completely consumed by flames.
→What actually burned was not the bamboo itself, but the green protective netting that had been wrapped around it. Only the charred remains of the fabric can be seen now.
→Bamboo, despite being a natural material, is not inherently highly flammable. In fact, it is commonly used in cooking utensils (e.g. bamboo skewers) and containers that are exposed to heat, precisely because it is relatively fire-resistant.
Bamboo scaffolding has a long tradition in Hong Kong, adapted to the city’s humid and windy climate. As the photo shows, the bamboo frame itself withstood the blaze. It’s important that public discussion is grounded in facts, rather than assumptions
眼看很多日本朋友看到香港的大火後，以為是「竹棚本身易燃」造成延燒。
真正原因仍需等待官方公布，不過我想藉這張照片解釋2點：
→竹棚本身並沒有被燒毀。
→燃燒的是外層的綠色布料（養生ネット）。
竹子本身並不是特別易燃的材料，不然也不會有竹筒飯、串燒竹籤等日常用途。香港的竹棚是一種傳統工法，柔韌度高，是古人智慧的結晶
